8 Ugly Dog Breeds That You Must Know About

There are so many kinds of dogs, all with different shapes, sizes, and faces. As dog lovers, we love them for their fun, wonderful personalities! But it’s easy to see that some of these tend to be better known for their personalities than their looks.

June 20 every year is Ugliest Dog Day, used to celebrate dogs that are not always the best-looking in the crowd. This article will talk about some ugly dog breeds (although beauty is subjective, and a few people might disagree) so you can know the ones to give some extra loving!

Whippet

Like an awkwardly lanky adolescent, the Whippet is long and slim, with a distinctive silhouette and a disproportionately small head. Cuddling a Whippet is like snuggling up to a broom because of its short fur and long, muscular legs.

Despite this, many people are drawn to these ugly dogs because of their pace and athleticism, and distinct Egyptian appearance.

Bloodhound

The Bloodhound’s incredible tracking capacity almost compensates for its sad look. This dog seems to be the canine counterpart of Eeyore as if a cartoon artist drew his or her version of a despondent Beagle and exaggerated the melancholy.

The Bloodhound’s ears and face are both long. And his eyes are the epitome of puppy-dog sadness. The Bloodhound’s legs, on the other hand, are short and stocky, giving the appearance that the dog is running at a snail’s speed.

Despite his comical nature, the Bloodhound is a big ugly dog that is a valuable tool to law enforcement, search and rescue teams, and hunters.

Peruvian Inca Orchid

Although these dogs belong to one of the ugly dog breeds, and they may not be the most photogenic, they are, without a doubt, the most lovable. They are so common in Peru that they can be traced back to native tribes where they are thought to have existed alongside humans and were respected as sacred animals.

Borzoi

The Borzoi, also known as the Russian Wolfhound, is a breed that looks like a hybrid between a Greyhound and a Whippet but with a shaggier coat. The Borzoi is as slim as its Whippet cousin, but this dog resembles a surfer dude with its unruly hair.

When it comes to working, this ugly dog breed is as quiet and graceful as a cat and stubborn and oblivious. The Borzoi, on the other hand, has a lot of redeeming qualities. These dogs are peaceful, caring, and quiet.

Affenpinscher

The Affenpinscher is a scruffy, unkempt ball of fur. They’re known as “mustachioed devils” in France, and that’s an appropriate description for this hot mess of a dog. The Affenpinscher is a rough-coated comic with Groucho Marx brows in dire need of plucking and a shaggy, hipster mustache. People seem to like the bed-headed pup because of his intellect and energy.

Bull Terrier

Their curved, egg-like skull shape characterizes bull terriers. This gives them an out-of-this-world appearance, and not in a positive way. A lot of people consider these to be some of the ugliest dogs because of that!

To make matters worse, their personalities are equally challenging to adjust to. Bull Terriers are notoriously stubborn and difficult to train if they are not started early enough. They are often prone to aggression, especially toward other pets, but in some cases, toward humans.

Bedlington Terrier

The Bedlington Terrier may appear to be a little lamb at first glance, but it is a misshapen dog from the mining town of Bedlington in northern England. We’re guessing this dog breed is struggling with identification problems.

With its fuzzy fur and rounded, convex snout, the Bedlington Terrier resembles the lamb who followed Mary to school in the classic nursery rhyme. Lambs are cute, but dogs posing as lambs are a different breed and make for really ugly dogs. Don’t be fooled by the dog’s lamb-like appearance into thinking it’s a tall, odd-looking softy—the Bedlington Terrier was bred to hunt and kill vermin in the English countryside and is aggressive and tenacious enough to be an effective hunter.

Chinese Crested

Although the Chinese Crested is a hairless dog breed, many of them have strange tufts of long, fluffy fur on the head, ears, face, feet, or tail. The dog’s body is smooth and almost human-like. The result is a bizarre and wild appearance that makes the dog look like a cross between a mad cat lady and an alien hybrid. A lot of people consider them to be the ugliest dog breed.

Chinese Crested dogs are the most popular breed to win ugly dog competitions throughout the world. That might mean you can call them the ugliest dog in the world! (Although beauty is subjective).
